Isle of Farmers' Markets is an affliation of people who wish to promote the growing, making and selling of Manx food and products. It's committee is elected from Accredited stallholders.

The Island has a rich history of markets through which Farmers and producers have traditionally sold their own produce. These markets were not only an essential source of food for the local community, they were also a vital focal point for meeting and socialising.

Isle of Man Farmers' Markets is working to revive this tradition, both by promoting existing markets on the island and by assisting in the creation of further markets.

Buying locally helps to sustain the Manx community and ecconomy and encourage diversification, and also helps in reducing 'food miles' which are having an increasingly detrimental effect on our environment.

Equally important, these markets allow access to the freshest products, with exceptional levels of traceability and also provides the opportunity to meet the people who produce them.

Forthcoming Events

Saturday 1st July, at the Villa Marina, 10 am 3 pm, Special 10th Anniversary Market, we're going back to where it all started. Come and join the party, there will be music, face painting, a bouncy castle, birthday cake, free prize draw, hot food, and a wide variety of producers. Come along and help us celebrate this auspicious occasion, and as always entry is FREE.

Also find a selection of IOMFM traders at both the Southern Agricultural Show Great Meadow, Castletown, Saturday 29th & Sunday 30th July, and The Royal Manx Agricultural Show, Friday 11th & Saturday 12th August, at Knockaloe Farm, Patrick.

Seasonal Produce

Salad leaves, radish, new potatoes, chard, spinach, spring cabbage, peas, broad beans, lettuce, pak choi, spring onions. Rhubarb, Gooseberries, raspberries. Goat meat, beef, pork, lamb. Eggs, honey.

10 Minute Recipe

PERSIAN SALAD
Serves 2

INGREDIENTS
4 Tomatoes
1/2 Cucumber
1 Onion
1 Cos lettuce heart

FOR THE DRESSING
2 tbsp Olive Oil Juice of
1 Lemon
1 Garlic clove crushed
salt & ground black pepper

METHOD
1. Cut the tomatoes and cucumber into small cubes. Finely chop the onion and tear the lettuce into bite-sized pieces.

2. Place the tomatoes, cucumber, onion and lettuce into a large salad bowl and mix together.

3. To make the dressing, pour the olive oil into a small bowl. Add the lemon juice and garlic, whisk together well. Stir in salt to taste. Pour over the salad and toss lightly to mix. Sprinkle with black pepper and serve at once.
