Llanarth Braint Reg no 1854 Vol XXXIII

Llanarth Braint was born in 1948. He was Palomino (later turned chestnut) and stood at 14.2hh. His sire was Llanarth Goldcrest and his dam was Llanarth Kilda. Llanarth Braint's showing excellence really began in 1958 at the Ponies of Briton Show at Harrogate, Braint received the championship 'in hand', won 1st prize under saddle, in harness and was crown Supreme Champion of the whole show. Perhaps what was equally important was the fact that, in the Welsh Cob class, the next five to him were all his progeny! After four successive third prizes at the Royal Welsh Shows, in 1957, 1958, 1959 and1960, Llanarth Braint stood at the top of the ten-strong stallion class and he also stood reserve to Parc Lady for the George, Prince of Wales Cup. Llanarth Braint's moment of glory was without doubt at the 1969 Royal Agricultural Society of England Show where, at nineteen years of age, he put up the show of his life to stand Champion Welsh Cob followed by various of his descendants of all ages and sexes. It was on the 20th of May 1978 a very large number of well wishers attended the thirtieth birthday party of Llanarth Braint and he died on 6th January 1979. His progeny include:
