Llanarth Flying Comet

Reg no 6835 Vol L

He was born in 1968. He was black with both hind white fetlocks. He was 14.2hh. His dam was Llanarth Flying Saucer and his sire was Pentre Eiddwen Comet.

Llanarth Flying Comet is the most successful of all the Welsh Cob stallions exhibited in the seventies; he came out as a yearling at the 1969 Royal Welsh Show, went straight to the top and has stayed there ever since! Never has a stallion enjoyed such fantastic success: first prize as a yearling in 1969, first in 1970 and 1971 with Reserve Male Championships on both occasions, then he entered the adult fray where as a fresh four year old he held off all opposition, gained the Male Championship and stood Reserve for the George, Prince of Wales Cup.

Llanarth Flying Comet had a rest from the 1973 Royal Welsh but he came back in great form to be recipient of the Supreme award in 1974, 1976, 1977 and 1978. These are only a few of the major awards which have fallen to Llanarth Flying Comet, amongst the numerous championships which have gone his way, apart from the Royal Welsh Show successes, possibly his next most notable are four times qualifying for the Lloyds Bank award at the Horse of the Year Show and in 1975 being "Pony of the year" and Reserve overall champion and supreme champion in 1979.

His progeny include:
Llanarth Black Henry
Llanarth Jenny Jones
Llanarth Rhalou
Llanarth Rhonwen
Llanarth Warwick
Sydenham Nocturne
